  • The story...

Despite El Salvador being the smallest of the Central American nations, it stands as a coffee powerhouse, producing exceptional coffees to a consistently high standard due to ideal climate, pristine terrain and the extensive knowledge of cultivators like Fernando Alfaro.

Finca El Carmen is owned and run by fourth generation coffee producers Fernando Alfaro and family. The farm is situated within the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range in the heart of El Salvador’s main ‘protected highway’ of forest, which stretches from Mexico through to Panama. As such the farm plays an important ecological role and is home to an extraordinary variety of plant and animal life.

The coffee farmers of El Salvador have managed to retain and develop their crop of classic Bourbon trees over the centuries which has cemented the. country’s reputation for high quality coffee. The term Elite refers to the oldest bourbon trees found growing on Finca El Carmen. This lot has been harvested from these heritage trees, making these coffee beans a true testament to resilience, tradition and quality. Great care has been taken from cultivation to processing, resulting in a cup full of sweet tropical notes.
